Sin embargo, la existencia de más de 500 organismos dedicados a erradicar la pobreza en Nicaragua no ha cambiado mucho las cosas, que cada vez se ponen peores. Muchos activistas locales e intelectuales no confían en las organizaciones y las acusan de tener como prioridad el propio enriquecimiento.

Siguiendo con el viaje a Nicaragua, el equipo dirijido por Planes hace una parada en el pueblo de San Nicolás, que carece de sistema de agua potable. De acuerdo a los pobladores, un grupo de españoles les han ofrecido ayuda económica para resolver el problema pero el Alcade del pueblo se ha negado a recibirla.
