Mucha gente sabe que no hay nada mejor que un horno de leña para cocinar deliciosa cocina peruana, sin embargo la estufa tradicionalmente usada en las regiones altas de Perú no tiene un buen sistema de ventilación, lo cual es causa de diversos problemas de salud en la población. En este video vemos a un grupo de investigadores hacer equipo con unos hábiles ingenieros para diseñar una estufa alternativa y costeable para las personas.

Ulises takes us to the Rimac area of Lima. Rimac means que habla (“that could speak”) in Quechua, a telling name for this telling ride!

The inhabitants of the first village where special stoves were installed experienced a marked improvement in their respiratory health. Word quickly spread to a nearby community which then made the change over to the new technology. As the materials are inexpensive, it should not be difficult to get all of Peru to switch to the new stoves.
