La palabra taller significa lugar de trabajo pero, al igual que en el inglés workshop tiene diferentes usos, puede ser el lugar de trabajo de artistas o artesanos, es decir un taller de arte lugar donde se arregla maquinaria, como un taller de autos o incluso un espacio en el que personas se reúnen para aprender y compartir ideas, por ejemplo un taller de escritura.
