“Reinvention” could be Enrique Bunbury's middle name. He’s a prolific composer, always finding inspiration in various books, movies, songs, and moods. And he thrives on creative collaborations. In the second part of YABLA’s exclusive interview, Bunbury opens up and tells us about the creative process behind his music.

What happens when you mix Mexican pyschedelic rock band Zoé with Spanish rock singer/songwriter Enrique Bunbury? The answer is: Nothing. Or, in Spanish, “Nada,” the title of this song. Take a listen and you’ll see that the combination of sensibilities creates a whole lot of something.

"De todo el mundo" is a wish list put together by our friend Enrique Bunbury. We're sure that somebody as famous as him is always looking for freedom. He doesn't want to be owned by anybody, he just wants to be part of the whole world.

In Colombia, costeño y cachaco are almost opposite terms. Costeños, that is de la costa, people from the Coast, are usually depicted as festive, noisy, and colorful people who really enjoy killing time. Cachaco is usually the name given to people from the capital, Bogotá, and they’re characterized by elegance; they’re always dressed up and in control of their emotions. One group is seen as lazy, the other as boring. Regional differences aside, Bomba Estéreo is a fresh musical mix of both regions.

Guess who was voted the best new band in the world in 2009? Drum-roll, please… Our friends Bomba Estéreo! Yabla met them back when they were the opening act of (the also great and friendly) ChocQuibTown. Since then, Bomba Estéreo have been spreading like fire all over America and Europe.

From the mouth of lead vocalist Liliana "Li" Saumet, salt water sounds like "agua salá" or "agua sala'a". The Caribbean accent is just part of the smooth rounded sound from Colombia known as Bomba Estéreo, a band that blends traditional cumbia with other musical influences.

What if you took a bunch of musical aces from Bogotá and asked them to cook up a picante take on the Led Zeppelin classic “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You”? Wonder no longer…

As a young student, Pablo was smart enough to use his charm and good lucks to get the girls to do his work for him. But when it came to opportunities to perform, this he did himself whenever he got the chance.

Natalia reflects on her first real experiences with acting and modeling. As a young girl she was drawn to the stage, performing in many of her high school’s chorus and theatrical productions. Her mature stage presence and passion for the art soon landed her a number of roles in paid advertisements. She was well on her way to becoming a star.

Natalia was quickly growing up. Like most teens, she was anxious to explore the world. At thirteen she began to go out dancing with her best friend, Rosa. Ivan, the high school hunk, was to become her first love.

Winning the Xuxa Paquita contest convinced her to move to Buenos Aires. Unfortunately for Natalia, it wasn’t easy to be sixteen and out on her own. She was lonely, and she struggled, but pride and her fierce ambition kept her from quitting.

The showbiz life can be cruel, even when you’re young, talented and beautiful. Though she came from nearby Uruguay, Natalia’s Argentine peers in their native Buenos Aires weren’t afraid to let her know she was a stranger infringing on their turf.

Imagine the shock to Natalia’s parents when they first saw another couple on the TV claiming that she was their child. Unfortunately, such a thing was not, in fact, entirely impossible. A blood test, however, proved the sad couple wrong. Natalia’s starring role in Ricos Y Famosos would soon bring Natalia, and her actual mom and dad, back to the top of the world.

Sure, Natalia has had it rough. A certifiable worldwide hit with Muñeca Brava, a stud actor boyfriend followed by a superstar musician boyfriend, a rising singing career; she’s the kind of girl many mere mortals would love to hate. But… she’s just impossible to dislike!

Off-screen, Natalia Oreiro’s love life sounds a lot less complicated than her on-screen characters’. After her six-year relationship with fellow actor Pablo Echarri ended amicably, she found love with the front man of the band “Divididos,” Ricardo Mollo, with whom she had more in common with than people seem to think.
