This episode of Sub30 introduces us to a character who, following the death of his mother, travelled across two countries to find the father he never knew.

This final episode in the series concludes the story of the boy who, following his mother's death, goes in search of his long lost father.

Grammy-nominated La Secta Allstar boasts Puerto Rican roots despite having come together in Orlando, where the members attended college, and shortly after that settling in Miami. This title track from their album, Consejo, may very well make their mothers and mothers around the Spanish speaking world proud.

Of course tuve is the preterite yo form tener, so one might be misled to think that the refrain of this tune is “I had, I had.” However, in casual speech on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, tú ve’ is short for tú ves (“you see”), but the uninitiated could easily mistake it for the verb tuve (“I had”). ¿Tú ve’?

This Puerto Rican band wasn’t on the island from the get-go. Two of La Secta’s members, Mark and Gustavo, met in Orlando during school and then moved to Miami Beach. There, they met up with John and Carlos and started writing songs. The message of their album Fuego, which shines through in “Déjalos que hablen,” is, according to John, “to be positive in the face of a moment of so many changes in the world.”

"Mentira" ["Lie"] is the first single from the 2001 MTV Unplugged album by the Chilean rock band, "La Ley" ["The Law"].

The worm might be blind but these guys can certainly see their way around a good hook. "Giroscopio" is a classic style video reminiscent of early MTV that fits well with this “power pop” tune. Yabla loves this band, you will too!

La Gusana Ciega is one of our favorite bands! Excellent writing plus deep hooks equals beautiful pop. This live recording of "Tornasol", a big hit for the band, may just leave you hungry for more.

"No Puedo Verte" (I Can’t See You) is a perfect title for a band called La Gusana Ciega (The Blind Worm). But this video is not about visual handicaps; it’s a testament to the painful sight of a long lost love in new caring arms.

"No me tientes" (“Don’t tempt me!”) is both a warning and a plea in this song from Yabla favorite, La Gusana Ciega. Despite the lyrics’ drama and the high-speed car chase, we are pleased to report that no one was hurt in the making of this video.

The friendly guys from La Gusana Ciega bring us this surrealist tune, full of bright colors, rusty cars, and a beautiful girl being chased by the band members.

Life on Mars? A star invasion? As usual, our boys of La Gusana Ciega are a bit surreal, a bit out there, but always fun to listen to. Enjoy the ride.

"Me Puedes" is the first sencillo (single) to be released by the phenomenal La Gusana Ciega in over five years. (And it’s great!) It’s from an album called La Rueda del Diablo (The Devil’s Wheel), which was recorded in Los Angeles under the direction of eight-time grammy winner Benny Faccone, who has worked his magic with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Ricky Martin and Santana.

We skip backstage once again to get some final thoughts from La Gusana Ciega, learning a bit more about their career and personnel changes. Like many of Mexico’s popular bands today, they got their start at a Mexico City club called Cocotitlán, which is also the name of a municipality well known for its corn festival.
