In this Electronic Press Kit (EPK), Bersuit Vergarabat’s members talk about the inspirations for and the process behind many of the songs on their album, Hijos del Culo, while talking a bit about the social commentary that runs strongly throughout their music.

Karamelo Santo performs a new version of perhaps their best known song... "Nunca, que no digan nunca" may be translated as "Never... say never," but Karamelo Santo's ska-infused sound is about as far from Justin Bieber's as you can get.

Bajofondo is, according to the group, a “collective of composers, singers and artists.” They started out as the Bajofondo Tango Club with a strong tango influence, but have since broadened their sound. Here they talk about the collective and begin a discussion of their sound.

Nothing lasts forever. Sadly, sometime in 2001 the fabulous Argentinian band Los Fabulosos Cadillacs announced their final tour. But after a long hiatus, in April of 2008, they announced a comeback! This song comes from the album they released that year. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, or LFC, is the most famous ska band of Latin America, and an obligatory part of any dance playlist!

Argentinian born and Mexico-based, Noel Schajris is better known as half of the sensational duet “Sin Bandera.” Since 2000, Noel, along with Leonel Garcia, has composed, played and sung hit after hit after hit. But in 2007, Noel and Leonel decided to part ways. Lucky for us, we still can listen to their emotive songs!

Bajofondo is the fusion of different musicians from the Río de la Plata area, Uruguayans and Argentineans. In 2003, they won the Latin Grammy for “Best Pop Instrumental Album” for their new genre: Electronic Tango. We interviewed Luciano Supervielle and Martín Ferres after a show in Germany about their most recent European tour.

Here’s the second part of the interview with Goy of Karamelo Santo. They are among the leaders of their home country’s independent music scene (Argentina). All their records were self produced—the major labels just weren’t interested in a band which plays free shows for the unemployed and pokes fun at the international monetary fund.

Goy plays guitar and sings for Karamelo Santa, one of the best ska bands in Latin America. Argentina is the band’s homeland (they are practically from the Pampas). But the 7 boys with wild hair and wild songs do not sing around a Gaucho campfire; their sound reverberates in the world’s largest cities.

Always with a light touch, often with full force, Bersuit Vergarabat dishes out social commentary and political activism. "Madre Hay una Sola" is no exception, as Gustavo Cordera apologizes to Mother Nature for the damage done to her by the human race.

Vamos al grano, Babasónicos might just be one of the most popular bands on the planet, as popular in Distrito Federal (Mexico City) as they are in Capital Federal (Buenos Aires). "Risa" is un tema pegajoso, which is to say “a catchy tune,” that for sure te gustará mucho (you’ll like a lot)!

In most Spanish dictionaries una yegua is “a mare,” as in “a female horse.” But in Babasónicos’ homeland, Argentina, it can also mean “a sexy thing.” To settle on your own definition of this song’s title, you may just have to watch! (By the way, this is currently one of the hottest bands in Rock en Español.)
