Felipe Calderón Hinojosa triunfó sobre su contrincante Andrés Manuel López Obrador por un margen tan pequeño que el partido de este último solicitó un recuento de los votos, mismo que nunca fue realizado. De una u otra forma, la nube negra que emsombreció estas elecciones dejó un sabor amargo en la boca de muchos mexicanos.
